Dr Joanne Teong is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. She is an Australian and New Zealand trained Ophthalmologist who studied medicine at the University of Notre Dame in Perth, Western Australia. She completed her Ophthalmology training in New Zealand and went on to advance her skills in cataract surgery, retinal diseases, glaucoma and oculoplastics in regional Tasmania. She subsequently did a sub-specialty Fellowship in Medical Retina at the renowned Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne, where she continued to hone her skills in managing macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases and complex cataract surgery.
She is passionate about teaching the next generation of Ophthalmologists and is currently on the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists Ophthalmic Sciences Examiners Committee.
Dr Teong believes in a warm and approachable style of communication where the patient's best interest always comes first.
